ABOUT MUWEMI NGULUBE

About Artist
Art has been a necessity since I first held a paintbrush at 7 years old. As a Zambian woman living in the Western diaspora, I have faced a lot of uncertainty in my identity and what my ideal life should be. Whilst battling with my own insecurities, I used art as my means of truly understanding who I am. I began making a series of works in different mediums to express myself and overcome inner challenges. Mostly working in photography and painting, but engaging in drawing, videography, printmaking, and sculpture. I am a firm believer that I will be a lifelong student in this field and engage in work focused on skill polishing, whilst deepening my historical knowledge in the arts.
I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in fine arts at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double minor in art history and global film studies, with hopes of being a full-time fine artist and creative director, bridging my heritage and my deep love for the arts.
